Lykland on Rügen: a piece of Scandinavia in Germany

Lykland on Rügen is a place where serenity, contentment and fulfilment are at home. A place where people find themselves, their own nature, and nature in general. A piece of Scandinavia in Germany.

The holiday homes in the Lykland nature district are architect-designed houses:

Selected architects worked closely with the clients to realise the nature district. In doing so, they outlined expectations and needs based on given factors: ecological building and healthy living in a particularly natural location on the south beach in Göhren. In accordance with legal regulations, stipulations from the municipality of Göhren, and building engineering fundamentals such as statics, efficiency, and sustainability, the architect-designed houses described have been created.

The use of ecological, durable, and recyclable building materials is standard and a prerequisite for the architect-designed houses in the Naturquartier. The load-bearing exterior and interior walls of the detached houses are made of a sophisticated timber frame construction. A ventilated facade cladding of rough-sawn spruce planks with wood fibre insulation demonstrates efficient insulation with natural insulating materials.

Sustainable architecture is characterised by the form and function of a building, as well as by the materials used for construction and energy efficiency. Environmentally high-quality building materials not only affect the indoor climate or the health of the occupants, but also the environment, the climate, and resource consumption. Sustainable construction considers the entire life cycle, from raw material extraction to material recycling.
