When it comes to buying a property in Göhren on Rügen, expectations are high. Especially in the high-quality apartments in the townhouses of the Lykland project. To meet these requirements, the developers, in collaboration with the architects Krieger and Mielke, commissioned a sculpture almost as tall as a house. This impressive monument not only symbolizes the exterior view of the ecological townhouses, but also offers the opportunity to discover the views of the Baltic Sea and the surrounding landscape on the south beach of Göhren from the floors of the planned townhouses. The sculptural structure soars upwards with fragile lightness on a specially cast concrete slab. The design was created by the renowned architect Marc Frederking, who worked intensively on the architectural designs of the townhouses and was inspired by the sculptural abstraction on site.
Structures as townhouses
The horizontal façade skin of the building corresponds to the exterior view of the planned townhouses and blends harmoniously into the overall picture. The entrances also symbolize the entrance situation of the townhouses. First, the steps lead centrally upwards to the balcony in front. The open spaces created by the recessed risers open up the view and give the building a sense of permeability. This transparency forms a fascinating contrast to the vertical wooden elements of the tower, which symbolize stability and structure. Another highlight of the building is the side staircase leading to the next level. The balcony at half height and the platform at the top allow the real visual axes of the planned buildings and offer future residents the opportunity to discover the magnificent view of the Baltic Sea and the wildly romantic nature of Göhren’s south beach.
